What it is
Finding the cause, not just the symptom.
If you have an outage in part of your home or some of your equipment is no longer working, one of our technicians comes out to troubleshoot and diagnose it. They address the immediate problem first, explain it clearly and give you repair options, so you can make an informed decision.
Most service calls take one to two hours. Every visit ends with our 23-point electrical safety check, so your home is safer than it was when we arrived.
Signs you need an electrician
When it is time to call a licensed electrician.
- Fuses blow or breakers trip again and again.
- Lights dim when an appliance switches on.
- A switch or outlet is warm, tingles or does not work.
- A light switch is hot to the touch. Call right away.
- No GFCI outlets in the kitchen, bathroom, garage or outside.
- Two-prong outlets that will not take a three-prong plug.
What to expect
The same sequence on every call.
You call. We answer from 7:30 AM to 5 PM and schedule you promptly.
Diagnosis. Your electrician asks about the problem, inspects and tests. The diagnostic fee covers the first 30 minutes.
Options and a price. You get repair options priced from our flat-rate book, and nothing starts without your go-ahead.
The repair. Trucks are fully stocked, so most repairs happen on the spot.
Safety check. A 23-point electrical safety check before we leave.

Questions
How do I reset a tripped breaker?
First deal with the cause, for example unplug an overloaded appliance. Find the tripped breaker in the panel, usually sitting in the off or middle position, switch it fully off and then back on. If it trips again straight away, there is an electrical issue that needs a professional.
What is the difference between a blown fuse and a tripped breaker?
A fuse has a small piece of metal that melts when overloaded and has to be replaced. A breaker is a switch that turns itself off on an overload or short circuit and can be reset.
Why is my light switch hot?
A hot switch can point to a serious wiring problem. Get professional help right away to avoid the risk of an electrical fire.
Is it safe to do my own electrical repairs?
It is much safer to hire an electrician. DIY mistakes risk electric shock and fire, and can be expensive.
Are there hidden costs?
Once the work is estimated we stick to it. If we find unknown conditions behind a wall or ceiling, we stop, talk it through with you and agree a new price before going on.
